Meet Our Team of Clinical Nutritionists and Functional Medicine Specialists
Taryn White, MS, CNS, LDN
Owner, Clinical Nutritionist
After wrestling with my own wellness, I made it a priority to upgrade my family’s health. I translated everything I was learning into language that a high schooler, middle schooler, and elementary student could not only understand but actually want to implement. My goal was to raise critical thinkers who could make healthy choices that left them feeling good and strong. Much to my surprise, it worked.
As my family has grown, so has our journey with food and health. Today, I have children in college, high school, and elementary school, all with different needs and personalities, but each with a foundation in how nutrition impacts their body and mind.

I’ve been there with kids who had such intense texture aversions they wouldn’t even touch a fruit or vegetable, let alone eat one. Through patience, creativity, and a lot of trial and error, I’m proud to say those same kids now enjoy a diverse array of colorful, nutrient rich foods that support their bodies and brains.
One of my children follows an ADHD supportive diet that helps regulate focus and energy. Another has embraced a gluten free approach to support skin and mental clarity and has even developed a quiet talent for healthy baking. And while my teenagers don’t always eat the way I would choose outside the home, I trust that they carry a solid foundation and a deep understanding of how food affects how they feel and function.
Professionally, I became a Mindbodygreen Functional Nutrition Coach, then earned a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition and Integrative Health. From there, I pursued the Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) credential, a nationally recognized, board certified certification for advanced clinical nutritionists. It required thousands of supervised practice hours, graduate level coursework, and passing a rigorous national exam. More than anything, it reflects my commitment to delivering high quality, personalized care rooted in both science and experience. I also hold an ADHD Intensive certification from Dr. James Greenblatt, whose work has deeply influenced how I support neurodiverse clients through nutrition and lifestyle.
My coach training drew from leaders who shaped my approach, including Kelly LeVeque, Dr. Robin Berzin of Parsley Health, Dr. Amy Shah, and Dr. Frank Lipman. Their perspectives on personalized nutrition, root cause medicine, gut health, and whole body healing helped shape the foundation of how I practice today.
That foundation continues to evolve. I’m constantly learning, diving into medical journals and studying the work of clinicians like Dr. Peter Attia, Dr. Sara Gottfried, and Bryan Walsh, ND, known for his deep expertise in biochemistry and functional lab interpretation. This blend of evidence based science and real life application is what I bring into every client relationship.
GreenMind began organically by supporting friends and loved ones, but it quickly became clear how many people were seeking the same answers I had worked so hard to find. Today, while I have experience supporting a wide range of health concerns, I have a particular passion for helping families navigate mental health, blood sugar regulation, and gut challenges.
Before entering clinical nutrition, I spent years working in healthcare strategy consulting for hospital systems and physician groups across the country. That experience trained me to think critically, synthesize complex data, and translate it into real solutions that improve lives. Today, I bring that same lens to functional nutrition, making evidence based medicine both relatable and implementable in everyday life.

My journey with health and nutrition started early and took many turns. Around the age of 16, I started learning to cook with my mom as a hobby we could enjoy together. I loved watching Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay, reading Bon Appetit Magazines, and trying new dishes every night in our family kitchen. Along the way, we began to find healthier alternatives to typical foods, which sparked my interest in nutrition. What began as a life-giving activity soon gave way to body changes and vanity, and as I noticed a few pounds shedding, I became consumed with the goal of being as thin as possible in the name of “health.”
Over the course of a couple of years, I became fixated on calorie counting and the number on the scale, which left me undernourished, isolated, and dealing with chronic hormone and gut issues. It took an eye-opening hospital stay early on in college for me to realize that skinny does not equal healthy.
After a diagnosis of what the doctors thought was Crohn's disease, I was told she would need to rely on medication for the rest of my life. I was met with a "no" when I asked if diet had anything to do with my gut issues, and right then, I realized conventional medicine was not going to help me truly heal.
I dove into alternative medicine and was able to restore my gut through diet, acupuncture treatment, and lifestyle changes. Today, I am not on any medications, have restored my hormones, healed my relationship with food, and have dedicated my career to helping others find the same healing in every aspect - mind, body, and spirit.
I pursued a Master’s in Nutrition & Integrative Health and became a Board Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) to equip me to use science-backed therapeutic nutrition and lifestyle strategies to prevent and manage a variety of chronic illnesses - while at the same time promoting a healthy relationship with food. I’m convinced that the only sustainable healthy lifestyle is one that you enjoy, and I’d love to help you find what’s best for you!

I was lucky enough to grow up in a home where whole foods and home-cooked meals were emphasized as a fundamental way to support health. You could say I had a bit of a ‘granola crunchy’ upbringing - and while I wasn't exactly fond of the spoonfuls of cod liver oil or the absence of Twinkies in my lunchbox, it laid a foundation I didn’t realize I had until I moved away for college. Suddenly in charge of my own meals, I was struck by how fortunate I’d been to grow up with access to and awareness of nourishing food - an understanding that only deepened through my thesis project on food deserts and health inequities in underserved communities.
These experiences, paired with my own digestive struggles, sparked a passion that would change the course of my career. I spent years dealing with persistent bloating and discomfort, despite feeling like I was doing everything "right" - so much so that I came to believe these symptoms were just “my normal.” Clarity, relief and a path forward came when I was finally diagnosed with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and small intestinal fungal overgrowth (SIFO) by my naturopathic doctor. Through a combination of diet, lifestyle and supplement changes, I was able to restore my gut and find my way to my true normal - symptom-free!
Though my career began in wellness marketing, I quickly realized I wanted to be more hands-on in helping people improve their health. That shift led me to pursue my Master’s in Clinical Nutrition and Integrative Health, earn my Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) credential, and become licensed as a Certified Dietician Nutritionist (CD-N) to support clients in a clinical setting.
Today, I work with a wide range of clients, with a special interest in gastrointestinal, metabolic, and women’s health. I’m here to help you connect the dots of your unique health story and co-create a path to healing that works for you.

My path in nutrition is deeply rooted in my personal health journey. As a young teenager, I became seriously ill and underwent brain surgery, followed by a long and difficult recovery. That experience reshaped how I viewed my health. Feeling well enough to move my body, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy everyday life became something I no longer took for granted.
I grew passionate about eating well and taking care of my body—but what began as a genuine desire to be healthy became rigid and restrictive. Over time, that mindset contributed to hormonal imbalances, chronic fatigue, and severe gut issues that persisted into my adult years.
Despite doing “everything right,” I was left feeling confused and discouraged. Countless doctors told me my labs were normal and offered medications that only masked symptoms. I knew there had to be a better way.
That search led me to integrative and functional nutrition, where I began to heal—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally. As I experienced the power of whole-person care, I felt called to help others do the same.
I went on to earn a Master of Science in Nutrition and Integrative Health and am currently a CNS candidate, working toward the Board Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) credential. My approach is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and personalization—because no one knows your body better than you do. I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to define what thriving health looks like for them.
While I work with a wide range of health concerns, I’m especially passionate about supporting women in restoring hormonal balance, healing their relationship with food, and navigating every stage of life with clarity and confidence.

How GreenMind was born
I have been in some aspect of healthcare ever since I can remember.
As a University of North Carolina student at Chapel Hill, I worked at UNC Healthcare as a physical therapy aide for cystic fibrosis patients. After graduating from UNC summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Health Policy and Administration, I traveled the country as a healthcare strategy consultant for Arthur Andersen, Emory Healthcare, and Navigant Consulting, working for physician groups and healthcare systems to optimize their strategy and improve patient care.
Beyond my professional endeavors, as a mother to four wonderful children, I work each day to prioritize their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
While I have always loved healthcare, my passion for nutrition became apparent more recently.
My first experience with the healing power of nutrition came from Kelly Dorfman, a gifted nutritionist who counseled me to help my son with numerous sensory sensitivities and ADHD. She was my first education on how food could heal and harm the brain, particularly those with sensitivities. I credit her for his success today.
A few years later, I experienced a severe concussion from a horrible fall. Following recovery, chronic fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, and other symptoms perplexed my doctors and me. While my physical exams and blood work all appeared “normal,” I struggled with daily routines and functions. I remember crying after the endocrinologist told me I was healthy.
At the end of my rope, I sought advice from Kelly Dorfman yet again. She assured me that my concerns were not unfounded. We poured through my labs, discussed my diet and lifestyle at length. She identified a subclinical thyroid condition and helped me begin my path to recovery. Employing everything I learned over those months changed my life. I not only felt like myself again, I felt better than ever.
That experience transformed my path. I saw firsthand how small, intentional changes in nutrition and lifestyle could produce life changing results.
At GreenMind, our mission is to bring that same clarity, strategy, and support to you and your family. We blend advanced functional testing, deep listening, and science backed protocols to help you feel like yourself again, only better.
As a mother of four, I live this mission every day. My commitment is to meet you where you are, with compassion, expertise, and a plan that fits your life.
